Juliet Silveira is an artist, writer and educator based in Brooklyn, New York. She earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting from Pratt Institute and a Masters in Education Research from Moreland University. As both a mother of 3 daughters and educator, Juliet is a vocal proponent of Self-Directed and Democratic alternatives to traditional education. Through her expressive portraits, paintings and murals, Juliet memorializes and honors individuals, nature, and the human body. She is also a practicing martial artist, and trains in the art of Capoeira under the tutelage of her husband Pião. Juliet seeks to build and uplift communities through her art, activism, teaching and parenting. Her hope is to inspire parents and young people to become active citizens and take direct action into cultivating a more humane and sustainable world.
